Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said it was “premature” to talk about cutting interest rates, and signaled that further rate hikes could happen.
Speaking in a press conference, Powell said, “We’re in a place where it’s premature to be talking about cuttin rates. We don’t feel that’s appropriate given the current economy. We are monitoring the situation and will adjust policy if necessary, which could mean raising rates further as well as cutting them.”
