DOJ sues software firm RealPage for allegedly helping landlords collude to keep rents high

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed a lawsuit against RealPage, a property management software firm. RealPage is accused of facilitating collusion among landlords, leading to higher rental prices. The software allegedly allowed landlords to exchange detailed information about rent prices, leasing rates, concessions, and occupancy rates. By doing so, it became easier for property owners to align their prices and keep rents artificially high.

In defense, RealPage might argue that their software provides a common service in the industry
