The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) in partnership with P.C. Richard & Son, the parent company of Air cous kitchen, announced on April 3rd, 2019 that more than 300,000 air fryers have been recalled due to a potential burn hazard.
The affected product is a four-series digital air fryer sold in black, white, red, and copper. The air fryers were sold at Walmart, Target, and Kohl’s stores nationwide as well as online from August 2018 and February 2019 for about $80 to $150. The CPSC warns consumers to stop using the air fryers immediately. Consumers should contact P.C. Richard & Son for a free replacement air fryer.
The recall affects all air fryers with model numbers AFS-AIO-2, AFS-AIO-3, AFS-AIO-4 & AFS-AIO-5. Affected units can be identified by the model number and date codes located on a label at their rear. The date codes range between 1807 to October 2018.
The recall is due to the air fryers’ power adapters malfunctioning and overheating, posing a burn hazard to the user. So far, 15 reports of the power adapters overheating have been received, two of which resulted in consumers suffering minor burns.
Consumers are strongly urged to return the recalled air fryers to the place of purchase to receive a free replacement product. If the product was purchased online, consumers should email PC Richard & Son to arrange for a free return and replacement.
